I have won an auction for the canon 35mm f2 in eBay and am now waiting for its delivery. In the meantime I have mated my xe1 with the super-multicoated-takumar 28mm 3.5. Its a small lens but alas with the m42-fx adapter, its looks horribly wrong.
The favorable reviews I read on this lens is true. Its contrasty and sharp. I think I may have found the sweet spot in terms if aperture. Its f3.5. It makes focussing a bit more forgiving. This lens will be on my xe1 until the Japanese summicron arrives.
